WiSH - Women into School Headship

Successes

WiSH has had eleven head teachers appointments so far.

Many congratulations Laura on being appointed to the Headship of Earlham Primary School Newham, London. We are so pleased that, by attending a WiSH programme you not only felt more confident to apply for headship but actually secured the post! Very well done indeed! Eve and Meg

“I would thoroughly recommend attending a WiSH course. When I attended last year, I was fairly sure that I wanted to become a head but was not confident that I was ready to apply, and was concerned that everyone I would be in competition with might be more competent and better prepared for Headship than I was. Meeting colleagues in a similar position reassured me that this was not the case and the positive attitude of the speakers really encouraged me, allaying my fears and helping me to realise that I could - and should - get on with it! WiSH provided a real boost to my confidence; I have since been appointed to my first Headship and can't wait to start.”

Laura Hewer, Headteacher designate, Earlham Primary School.

“As a newly appointed Headteacher, I am really pleased to write about the impact and importance of WiSH for me.

I needed support in fully understanding the Headteacher appointment process, getting through the final hurdles of applying for a headship and completing an effective person specification. Meeting likeminded and similarly placed senior leaders was affirming and the day certainly helped to focus my thinking and action planning.

I would recommend a day with WiSH to women who may think it is not possible to think, dream and begin the process of becoming a Headteacher. It is. And it works."

Christine Macauley, Headteacher, St Anselms School.

Meg and Eve congratulating Christine Macauley on her appointment.
